NORMALLY CLOSED SOLENOID VALVES
There are two types of valves, direct-acting or diaphragm-operated; in the first type, the opening and closing of the passage orifice is obtained directly by the moving core.
In diaphragm-operated valves, the moving core has the sole task of freeing the pilot hole of the diaphragm, which closes the passage orifice; in order for the diaphragm to be able to lift and allow the passage of the fluid, it is therefore necessary that there is a minimum pressure differential between the inlet and the outlet of the valve.
The entire production range includes normally closed valves, meaning that when the coil is energized, the valve opens.
Solenoid valves are considered "pressure equipment accessories" according to Article 2, paragraph 5 of the PED 2014/68/EU Directive and are subject to Article 4, paragraph 1, letter C of the same directive.
The entire range is designed for use with fluids classified under Article 13, paragraph 1, letter b of the PED 2014/68/EU as belonging to group 2, or non-toxic, non-flammable and non-explosive fluids; this macro group also includes refrigerants belonging to group A1 classification according to EN-378-1 and listed in appendix E of the aforementioned standard.
COILS
KMA series coils must be supplied with alternating current, while KMD series coils must be supplied with direct current. Coils are applicable only to normally closed valves. The connection terminals consist of three quick connectors, two line and one earth, arranged to perfectly mate with the DIN43650 connector. All coils comply with the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC.
