tech level ball valves Low pressure
CONSTRUCTION — Reformulated Version
All ball valves (BVT and BV series) are designed to accommodate the AMBV adapter, which enables connection to a rotary actuator. The AMBV assembly consists of three galvanized‑steel components:
- a flange connector that interfaces with the actuator housing,
- an internal spindle that links the valve spindle to the actuator’s drive mechanism,
- a threaded retaining ring that secures all parts together.
The adapter is designed in accordance with ISO 5211. All valves can be supplied with Belimo® actuators, available in 24 V modulating or on/off versions, or 230 V on/off versions.
INSTALLATION — Reformulated Version
When actuators other than those recommended by GMC are used, it is essential to respect both the required opening/closing torque and the maximum permissible weight for the BV + AMBV assembly. If the maximum supported weight is exceeded, suitable external supports or restraints must be provided.
APPLICATION
— Reformulated Version
Motorized
ball valves of the BV–BVT series across all product lines are classified
as “Pressure accessories” under PED Directive 2014/68/EU, Article 2,
paragraph 5.
The
intended refrigerants vary depending on the specific line, which also
determines the hazard category in accordance with the PED Directive.
According
to Directive 2014/68/EU, hazard classification depends on:
- type of fluid used,
- intrinsic dimensions (DN),
- maximum design working pressure (PS).
Refer to
the technical tables in the BV–BVT sections for the hazard category of each
specific model, noting that classification may differ between PLUS, BASIC,
and HC lines.
The AMBV
adapter and Belimo® actuator are excluded from the scope of
PED Directive 2014/68/EU.
