tech level Filter Dries
CONSTRUCTION
The
external casing is manufactured entirely from steel EN 10130 – DC04,
while the connections are made from copper‑plated steel. The body and
head (and the bottom section on larger models) are joined using MIG/TIG
welding, creating a durable, seamless assembly. The outer shell is finished
with over 70 μm of powder coating, ensuring full protection against oxidation.
In this
type of Strainer (S), the filtering element is non‑accessible and
consists of a basket‑style AISI 304 wire mesh layer. This design
provides a high level of mechanical filtration, offers a large free
surface area, and ensures minimal resistance to fluid flow.
The product
line includes versions with SAE flare threaded connections and solder
connections.
INSTALLATION
Installing
the unit is essential to protect the system from solid contaminants,
which can cause severe damage to the compressor and other system components.
The filter‑strainer
may be mounted vertically or horizontally, although a vertical
orientation with the flow directed downward is recommended to prevent oil
or sludge accumulation. In all cases, the flow direction must follow the
arrow shown on the product label.
APPLICATION
Hermetic S‑type
filter strainers are classified as “Vessels” under PED Directive
2014/68/EU, Article 2, paragraph 2.
The PLUS
line is engineered for use with nearly all refrigerants commonly available
on the market—i.e., fluids classified in Article 13, paragraph 1 of the
PED Directive as Group 1 and Group 2. Many of these refrigerants are
listed in Annex E of EN 378‑1 as Class A1, A2L, and A3.
Supported
refrigerants include: • HFC: R32, R404A, R407C, R410A, R507 • HFO:
R1234ze, R1234yf • HFC/HFO blends: R448A, R449A, R450A, R452A, R452B,
R454B, R454C, R513A • HC: R290, R600, R600a, R1270
In
accordance with Directive 2014/68/EU, the hazard classification of the product
is determined by: • the type of fluid used, • the intrinsic dimensions
(internal volume), • the maximum allowable working pressure (PS).
According
to Table 1 of Annex II of the PED Directive, all products fall under Article
4.3 and therefore must not bear the CE mark, even though they comply
with the Directive.
All
products also meet the requirements of STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2016 No. 1105 –
Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, as amended by the Product
Safety and Metrology etc. (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019.
Based on their classification, they fall under Regulation 8 and must
not bear the UKCA mark, even though they comply with the Regulations.
