tech level Filter Dries
CONSTRUCTION
The
external casing and the upper flange of these filters are fully manufactured
from steel, while the connection materials vary according to the specific
product series:
• CSR..CO₂
series: stainless‑steel tubing AISI 304.
• CSR..CO₂S
series: steel tubing UNI EN 10216‑3 – P355NL1.
The outer
shell is coated with over 70 μm of powder paint, providing complete protection against
oxidation, whereas the upper flange is zinc‑plated for additional
corrosion resistance. All units are supplied with a blind flange as
standard; however, upon request, a ¼" NPT drilled flange can be
provided to allow installation of a service port.
INSTALLATION
Installation
is essential to safeguard the system from moisture, acids, and solid
contaminants, which may reduce overall efficiency and cause severe damage
to the compressor and other system components.
The filter
can be mounted vertically or horizontally, but the distance “K”
(refer to table and drawing) must be respected to ensure unobstructed removal
of the filtering element. Additionally, the flow direction must always
match the arrow indicated on the product label.
APPLICATION
The replaceable solid‑core filters of the CSR..CO₂ and CSR..CO₂S series are classified as “Vessels” according to PED Directive 2014/68/EU, Article 2, paragraph 2, and fall under the requirements of Article 4, paragraph 1(a) of the same Directive. The entire product line is approved for use with refrigerant R744 (CO₂), identified in Article 13, paragraph 1(b) of the PED Directive as a Group 2 fluid—non‑toxic, non‑flammable, and non‑explosive—and listed in Group A1 of Annex E of EN 378‑1.
In compliance with Directive 2014/68/EU, the hazard classification of the product is determined by:
• the type of fluid used (R744),
• the intrinsic dimensions (internal volume),
• the maximum allowable working pressure (PS).
For the CSR..CO₂ and CSR..CO₂S filters, internal volumes range from 1.6 litres for the smallest models to 1.9 litres for the larger versions. Maximum operating pressures, as indicated in the reference tables, do not exceed 90 bar. According to Table 2 of Annex II of Directive 2014/68/EU, all products are classified as Category I and must carry the CE marking, confirming conformity with the Directive’s design and safety requirements.
