tech level Filter Dries
CONSTRUCTION
The external casing and upper flange
of these filters are entirely manufactured from steel, while the connection
materials vary according to the specific series:
• CSR..MP series: copper
tubing EN 12735‑1 – Cu‑DHP R290.
• CSR..SMP series: steel
tubing UNI EN 10216‑3 – P355NL1.
• CSR..MPI series: stainless‑steel
tubing AISI 304.
The outer shell is protected by a powder
coating exceeding 70 μm, ensuring
full resistance to oxidation, whereas the upper flange is zinc‑plated
for additional corrosion protection. All models are supplied with a ¼"
NPT threaded hole on the upper flange, allowing the installation of a service
port (see KIT‑A CO₂) when required.
INSTALLATION
Installation is required to protect
the system from moisture, acids, and solid contaminants, which can lead
to reduced efficiency and severe damage to the compressor and other system
components.
The unit can be installed vertically
or horizontally, but the distance “K” (see table and diagram) must
be maintained to allow easy removal of the filter element. The flow
direction must always correspond to the arrow indicated on the product
label.
Filters of the CSR..MP, CSR..SMP,
and CSR..MPI series are normally equipped with internal fittings suitable
for a drier cartridge, intended for installation on the liquid line.
However, by adding the suffix “-A” to the code of the single‑cartridge
filter (CSR48..AMP, CSR48..ASMP, and CSR48..AMPI), the unit can be
supplied with internal fittings designed to accommodate a mechanical
filtration cartridge.
APPLICATION
The replaceable solid‑core filters of the CSR..MP, CSR..SMP, and CSR..MPI series are classified as “Vessels” under Article 2, paragraph 2 of the PED Directive 2014/68/EU, and fall within the scope of Article 4, paragraph 1(a) of the same Directive. All products in this range are approved for use with refrigerant R744 (CO₂), which is designated in Article 13, paragraph 1(b) of the PED Directive as a Group 2 fluid—non‑toxic, non‑flammable, and non‑explosive—and listed in Group A1 of Annex E of EN 378‑1.
In compliance with Directive 2014/68/EU, the hazard classification of the product depends on:
• the type of fluid used (R744), • the intrinsic dimensions (in this case, internal volume),
• the maximum allowable working pressure (PS).
For the CSR..MP, CSR..SMP, and CSR..MPI filters, internal volumes across the series range from 1.6 litres for the smallest models up to 3 litres for the larger two‑cartridge versions. Maximum operating pressures, as specified in the reference tables, do not exceed 62 bar. According to Table 2 of Annex II of Directive 2014/68/EU, all products are classified as Category I and must bear the CE marking as proof of conformity.
